D'Addario XS strings are bronze-core wire with a bronze coating. There is no established reason PFAS chemicals (which serve nonstick, waterproof, or grease-resistant functions) would be used in acoustic guitar string manufacture.

Material: 80/20 Bronze (copper-tin alloy) with phosphor-bronze coating
